Chapter 23: Find Fault (1)

Su Xiaoxiao went to Wei Ting's room to check on him as usual.

The low fever had gone, but the hematoma* in the liver had not disappeared, and he was still  weak.

*Hematoma : is a localized bleeding outside of blood vessels, due to either disease or trauma including injury or surgery and may involve blood continuing to seep from broken capillaries. [Wikipedia]

"Take the medicine by yourself."

Su Xiaoxiao filled a bowl with two anti-inflammatory medicines and three capsules for hematoma, and handed them to him.

She knew he was awake.

"What kind of medicine did you give me?" He had never seen such a strange medicine.

Su Xiaoxiao laughed and said, "Yo, it's not enough to be my family’s son-in-law, and you still want to know about my family's ancestral secret recipe?"

"Who wants to know?" Wei Ting turned his face coldly.

Su Xiaoxiao's treatment of Wei Ting's wound was unknown to Father Su and Su Ergou. They thought that Wei Ting got better because Jinchuang medicine that he carried with him.

 

-Jin Chuang Medicine / Jin Chuang Yao / 金疮药 It is a traditional Chinese medicine, its name is often heard in Chinese historical costume movies, dramas, and novels. All martial artists usually had this medicine. This medicine is a powder, it is used to treat bruises, cut injuries, stop bleeding, etc.

 

Wei Ting thought that the father and son knew that Su Xiaoxiao was giving him medical treatment.

Therefore, Su Xiaoxiao's little secret was covered.

But even if Su Xiaoxiao exposed her secret, she was not afraid. Just looked at how Father Su and Su Ergou loved her so blindly, and it was easy for her to fool them.

After Su Xiaoxiao brought a bowl of vegetable and rib porridge to Wei Ting, she took hemp rope and went to the forest in the back mountain.

T/N : The previous Xiao Wu will be changed into Mrs. Wu. There will be another character with the surname Wu too (the mother-in-law of Mrs. Wu, which later will be called Grandma Wu, to differentiate with Mrs. Wu).

Mrs. Wu also came to pick up firewood, but she accidentally fell down, and the firewood was scattered all over the ground without saying anything, and her foot was stuck.

It was a big tree that had fallen down in the forest. It was not easy for an adult man to move it, let alone a skinny Mrs. Wu.

Mrs Wu was in pain and anxious, her tears came out.

But she was timid and did not dare to call out for help.

Su Xiaoxiao did not know how long she had been stuck, but her thin and helpless appearance was really pitiful.

Su Xiaoxiao walked over.

Seeing her, Mrs Wu was like a frightened rabbit, she trembled.

Su Xiaoxiao didn't say anything, and just walked around to the end of the tree.

She took a horse stance, and held the tree with all of her strength.

"I’m so exhausted!"

She still hadn’t eaten breakfast!

Su Xiaoxiao panting, came to Mrs Wu and squatted down to check her right foot.

"It's just a little bruise, it's okay. Can you walk?"

She nodded timidly and bent to pick up firewood on the ground.

Seeing her limping appearance, Su Xiaoxiao sighed and helped her bundle up the firewood and put it on her (Su Xiaoxiao) shoulders.

"Follow me!"

Mrs Wu stared blankly at the little bully Su who robbed her firewood and dared not disobey the other party's words.

Su Xiaoxiao put firewood at her door and left.
