Chapter 20: Sera's Actual Plan

She hadn't told anyone the full plan. Not Ash, not Cael, not Idra.

The truth was that she didn't want to open the Wall. She wanted to speak to whatever was inside it — the thing that had been chanting in the dark for centuries. She believed, based on her research, that it was a person. And she believed that a person, even one trapped in a wall, deserved to be heard.

This seemed, to her, like a reasonable position. She was aware that everyone around her would consider it catastrophically naive. This was why she hadn't mentioned it.
