Chapter 6: The First Wall

Sera pressed her palm against the cold stone. The Wall of Heaven stretched endlessly upward, its surface etched with markings no scholar could decipher.

She had spent three years searching for this place. Now that she stood before it, the only thing she felt was the faint vibration beneath her fingertips — like a heartbeat.

Behind her, the cat appeared from nowhere, as it always did. Its white fur shimmered faintly in the pale light. "You found it," it said. "What now?"
